Frequently Asked Questions

How are the trailers shipped?
They are shipped boxed up on a pallet. (For additional shipping details, see our Orders page). If you prefer, you may pick up your new trailer at our manufacturing facility in Huron, Ohio (directions can be found on our Contact Us page).

Who will deliver my trailer?
Depending on your location, shipments are via either UPS or ABF Freight Systems (unless you choose to pick up your trailer).

Is any assembly required?
Yes (though you may pick up a fully assembled trailer at our manufacturing facility). The wheels, axle, tongue, fenders, and hardware are packaged and shipped inside the cargo compartment to make for compact shipping.

Is assembly difficult?
No. If you can line up pre-drilled holes and tighten a few nuts and bolts, then assembly is easy! Simple step-by-step instructions are included.

How long does it take to receive the trailer after ordering?
The current lead time for building and shipping your trailer is five to six weeks. If you need your trailer sooner, you can have your order expedited for an additional fee.

Do I need a Paypal account to pay you?
No. You may simply pay as a guest by entering your payment information on the Paypal-generated invoice. We use Paypal Merchant Services for the mutual security and protection of the buyer and seller.

Can I pay for a trailer without using a credit card?
Yes. Just contact us via email and ask first regarding your preferred method of payment (i.e. money order, bank check, personal check). Then we'll give you the details on how to order and make payment.

Where does the license plate go?
There is a bracket supplied to be attached behind the left wheel for mounting the license plate.

What about a title for licensing?
Trailers are issued a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin along with a Bill of Sale. These are used to get your plate.

Yes, Small Cargo Trailers accepts major credit cards!

Whether you choose the small Overnighter or the large Vacationer, both of our trailers include:

Safety and Ride Control

Trailers come with two standard steel safety chains and five clips to attach the trailer to your vehicle; LED lights to make you more visible to other drivers; and a locking cargo compartment lid for added safety and security.

Axle schematicsTrailers are equipped with full length rubber torsion and Dexter axles. Each comes standard with full sized 13" mag wheels wrapped in top quality brand Carlisle 175/80/R13 steel belted radial transport tires, and with stainless steel lug nuts and center caps. The full length axles are designed to eliminate wheel flex using a heavy steel box frame that connects the spindles in each wheel together, and guarantees the frame won't bend or twist while acting as an additional load carrying cross 13" mag wheel standard on every trailermember. The tires eliminate the shimmy that smaller tires can cause when going down the road, and add extra stability. Each wheel offers independent wheel suspension which allows for less transfer of road shock and helps protect your cargo.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to a global tire shortage, the aluminum wheel and tire may differ slightly from the images shown.

Heavy Duty Construction

A trailer is only as good as its frame! By using an all aluminum frame (compared to a steel frame), we are able to offer stength while lowering weight. This keeps our trailers lighter and easier to pull so you're not Heavy-duty heat-treated aluminum trailer tongueputting added stress on your vehicle's powertrain. We use a heavy duty heat-treated 3/16" 2" x 3" aluminum channel for the frame, which is much stronger than the thin-walled steel box tubing used by other trailer manufacturers. The trailer tongue is made from the same heavy duty material, and is fully welded all the way around.

Stainless steel fastenersOur load bearing top rails are made from high quality heavy duty aluminum tubes with castings at each end, made to our specifications and in our own mold at a local foundry. They are attached using solid heavy gauge aluminum brackets by 1-1/4" stainless steel fender washers. The bars are rated for 150 pounds while in motion, and 500 pounds when parked.

We use all stainless steel nylocks, grade A bolts, and stainless steel rivets on our trailers. The rivets used on the bottom of the trailer are corrosion resistant marine grade rivets.

Trailer cargo compartment floorLarge Water-Tight Cargo Compartment

The cargo compartment floor is constructed from .090 heat-treated aluminum while the walls are crafted from .060 heat-treated aluminum. Most other manufacturers use .030 bulk material. Tie down rings are mounted on each bottom corner of the trailer, and the floor is lined with outdoor carpet for easy cleaning.

The locking lid is made of a UV-resistant high impact ABS plastic. The lid is attached with two 6" piano-style stainless steel hinges, and the front features two rubber draw latches and an all-weather stainless steel hook lock with a key. The draw latches aren't sharp, and they don't stretch out. The lids open via steel locking lift brackets that ride in nylon bushings for smooth operation.

Our small cargo trailers have a beautiful, durable powder coat finish in a variety of colors, including custom matchesRubber gaskets and Trimlock material on the inside of the lid and edge of the cargo compartment make the trailer water tight.

Beautiful, Durable Powder Coat Finish

Our six stage in-house powder coating process provides the trailers rich color and a long lasting, durable, high impact resistant finish, inside and out.

Bright LED Lighting

LED lighting provides for maximum visibility in all conditions. Wire guards keep the wiring safe from damage.
